Britain's Rio team is announced

The British Olympic Association has announced the athletes for Team GBR to compete in Rio 2016.
The showjumping team travelling to Brazil are:
Nick Skelton, 58, on Beverley Widdowson's Big Star
Ben Maher, 33, on his own and Jane Forbes Clark's Tic Tac
John Whitaker, 60, on Team Harmony Management Company's Ornellaia
Michael Whitaker, 56, on Beverley Widdowson's Cassionato
Travelling reserve is Jessica Mendoza, 20, on her mother Sarah's Spirit T
There is plenty of Olympic pedigree in the team, with London 2012 gold medallists Nick Skelton and Ben Maher returning to defend their title four years later. It will be Nick's seventh Olympics and his second with the scopey stallion Big Star.

It is Ben's third Olympic Games; he went to Beijing with Rolette and in 2012 on Tripple X.

Los Angeles 1984 team silver medallist John Whitaker will attend his sixth Olympic Games with Ornellaia, while his LA 1984 teammate and younger brother Michael heads to his fifth Olympics on Cassionato.
On the team for British Eventing is William Fox-Pitt and Chilli Morning, Kitty King and Ceylor L A N, Gemma Tattersall and Chico Bella P or Quicklook V and Izzy Taylor with Allercombe Ellie. Pipppa Funnell is reserve on Billy The Biz.
Making their way to Rio on the dressage team is: Fiona Bigwood and Atterupgaards Orthilia, Charlotte Dujardin with Valegro, Carl Hester on Nip Tuck and Spencer Wilton with Super Nova II. Lara Griffith is travelling reserve with Rubin Al Asad.
