Joe Davison takes the 2* 1.45m on day two at the Charles Stanley British Masters

Joe Davison claimed the top spot in the big class on the middle day at the Charles Stanley British Masters, Wettenhall 2* on Team Harmony’s Vennoot.

A field of 50 contended the class, with 14 gaining access to the jump-off, Joe proving the quickest on the Andiamo/G Ramiro Z 14-year-old by 1.12 sec. 

Chloe Winchester took second on Avoca Valkyrie.  The 13-year-old Touchdown mare, who took Chloe to Queen Elizabeth Cup glory at Hickstead last year, was off with injury from January to May, but is bouncing back to her best.

British-based Swede Angelie von Essen took third on the British-bred One Man, a Cassini I 10-year-old bred by Steve Davenport.  Jay Buxton took fourth with High Offley Arturos Catch with Ireland’s Dermott Lennon fifth on Valent and Steven Franks aboard Abdul Aziz sixth.

 

It was a British whitewash in the 1.40m accumulator, with Brits filling the top eight places with eight maximum scores.  Matt Sampson claimed the top spot on thr Papillon Rouge 13-year-old Perfect Rouge, winning by 1.92 sec. 

Mennell Watson was second with Helen van Heyningen’s home-bred Cobrettti eight-year-old Whisper In The Wind with Graham Babes and Boucheron, a Valentino DDH/Burggraaf 10-year-old, in third.

Paul Barker took fourth on Happy Boy with Corinne Collins fifth on Bugatti B and Louise Whitaker and Team Harmony’s Udget Du Rozel sixth.

 

 

 

The 2* 1.30m was awarded to France, Julien Feuillerac and Eclips outpacing all the British challenges to take the win by 1.17 sec.  Michael Potter eased the British-bred Billy Congo 10-year-old Billy Reel into second with Paul Barker aboard the 11-year-old Sandors Legacy in third.

Jay Buxton and the Animo nine-year-old Camona took fourth ahead of Nigel Coupe’s Dragon in fifth and Pippa Allen on Carthagon G Z in sixth.

Only two of 26 pony riders managed to produce round one clears in the pony viewing trial.  Sophie Bowen Howard went head-to-head with Hallie Lunn in the jump-off, but both had one rail on the floor.  Sophie and the German-bred 16-year-old Dafina K crossed the line first, taking the win by 1.74 sec, leaving Hallie settling for second on the 13-year-old rish mare Javas Alun.

Six combinations finished on four faults in round one.  Jack Whitaker took third on Elando Van De Roshoeve with Emma Crawford in fourth and fifth on Mullingar Bay and Stars Surprise.  Robert Murphy and Rainbows Mocha took sixth with Jodie Hall McAteer seventh on The Little Squire and Nicole Lockhead Anderson with Cappagh Supreme in eighth.

Nina Emery on the Damiro L 13-year-old mare Piana triumphed in the amateur 1.20m, winning by half a sec from Sandy McLean with the Belgian-bred 10-year-old Warhol Wulfselection Z.  Sally Swiers repeated her third place of yesterday on Millfield Longsocks with Sebastien Poirier and Play Boy fourth, Paul Bevan on Coco Vittorio fifth and Paul Burgess on Havana sixth.

Angel Tough pushed the Cassini II/Royal Feu nine-year-old Callumbus one place higher than 24 hours earlier to win the amateur 1.20m by 2.15 sec.  Dee Hayes and Casallola, a Casall/Cassini II six-year-old mare, took second ahead of Julie Shaw aboard Le Montrechat.  Morgan Carpenter was fourth on Merllyns Harlequin with Chloe Hitchen on Lambargo fifth and Isabelle Watson sixth with King Carnute.
