Tim Stockdale heads the International Stairway at Royal Norfolk
Tim Stockdale secured the top spot in the International Stairway at Royal Norfolk with Clark and Marjorie Glasgow’s Fleur De l’Aube.
Five from a field of 29 reached the jump-off after answering the tough questions asked in Kelvin Bywater’s testing track. Two other riders jumped clears, but these were marred by time faults.
Tim was on top form, booking his final draw in the jump-off with the fastest round one clear on the 11-year-old Thunder Van De Zuuthoeve/Alcatraz mare Fleur de l’Aube, and claimed victory with almost three sec to spare.
Second in Royal Highland’s International Starway leg just a few days earlier, Helen Tredwell again slotted her homebred Vangelis S daughter Larksong into second. Emma O’Dwyer’s opening round on HHS Figero took third with another double clear.
Tim Davies took fourth on Valentijn O with fifth awarded to Phillip Miller and Pennie and Di Cornish and Nigel Eccles’ Caritiar Z. Helen was also sixth with the Garrett’s Sebastian VII, Robert Bevis tok seventh on Courtney and Chloe Winchester brought Avoca Valkyrie into eighth.
After six legs, Helen and Larksong now top the leaderboard on 34 points with Robert and Courtney, winners at Royal Berkshire and South of England, lying second six points in arrears on 28. Phillip and Caritiar Z are third on 25 points and Helen also takes fourth with Sebastian on 16 points.
There are two legs left in July – Great Yorkshire and New Forest and Hants – before the final at the National Championships, Stoneliegh, in August.
