Chloe Reynolds and Grenadier Volo win Bicton's British novice second round

Chloe Reynolds is on a roll. Just a week after taking the discovery second round at Rectory Farm on Grenadier Volo, the pair headed the KBS British novice second round at Bicton Arena.

A jump-off of 14 was yielded from 50 starters with Chloe, 18, setting an unbeatable lead from an early draw, winning by over six sec on Grenadier Volo.

The Numero Uno/Quidam De Revel five-year-old was purchased from Nick Benterman and started with Chloe as a four-year-old with consistent places and wins from the start. The win here now gives them two finals – British novice and discovery – to aim for at the National Championships, Stoneleigh, in August.

First-drawn Leigh Smallacombe took second on the six-year-old gelding Odyssey B with Nicole Bates in third aboard the five-year-old Billy Prompt.

At the rest of the show, Laura Mantel was a multi-winner. The seven-year-old Warrant mare Esgracia MB headed a 1.10m and a Foxhunter for Laura, and Liz Howes’ home-bred Caretino Glory/Animo nine-year-old Glory B V was also a double winner, claiming two 1.30m classes.

Gail Burchmore finished second in one of them and won another with the 11-year-old Levisto daughter Leva Z.

Rachel Vicary also claimed four wins. The Irish 15-year-old Sparkling Indulgence set the ball rolling with a 1.15m members cup win and the Irish 17-year-old Spirits Way notched up a hat-trick, taking two 90cm classe and a 95cm.

Ella Nutbeen Slowley doubled up with two 1.20m wins on the 13-year-old gelding Artisan II, and Laura Davies also clocked two wins, taking 95cm and 1m classes on Bolgoednewydd Toy Faere. Sammy Cotton was another with a double victory, winning an early Foxhunter/1.20m on Emely B and a 1.05m on Firestone W.
