Imogen Marmont wins the pony newcomer second round at Church Farm

Imogen Marmont seized the Blue Chip pony newcomer second round top spot at Church Farm Equestrian in Lancashire on TJ Simba to register a place in the prestigious HOYS final.

A strong field of 50 chased the two coveted HOYS qualifying places, with 11 gainng access to the final jump-off. Dismissing any pressure, Shrewsbury, Shropshire based Imogen, 14, guided the seven-year-old Simba into one of only three treble clears, taking the win by an impressive 4.44 sec.

Matt Edwards, 16, and also from Shrewsbury, eased the 10-year-old Dude into the second qualifying spot.

Providing the only other treble clear, Ella Popely had to settle for third and just missing out on HOYS on Pegasus IV. Nevertheless, she gets another chance to qualify in the pony newcomer masters at the National Championships, Stoneleigh, in August. She is joined by fourth-placed Robert Murphy and Uncanny and Ffion Roberts, fifth with Kantjes Bozzy.
