Robert Whitaker is best Brit on the Glock's Perfection tour
Robert Whitaker took a good third in a star-studded field in the Glock’s 5* 1.60m grand prix on Catwalk at Treffen, Austria, in a tight, hard-fought, 12-strong decider.
Robert Skilfully guided the scopey Colman-sired 13-year-old round the big, imposing track, and they were just 0.42 sec in arrears behind the winner, Germany’s Christian Ahlmann on Epleaser Vant Heike. Fellow German Daniel Deusser was second on First Class Van Eeckelghem. John Whitaker on Ornellaia and Laura Renwick with Bintang both incurred eight faults in round one.
Robert also claimed fifth in the youngster 1.40m final on the Indorado seven-year-old Expresso, 2.82 sec behind the pace.
"We had a brilliant week at Glock's Horse Show against tough competition, and to top the weekend off, Catwalk was third in the grand prix," said Robert.
John finished third in the 1.45m with Old Lodge’s Cassini II 12-year-old Lord of Arabia, almost four sec behind the winner, Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet on Eldorado Van Het Vijverhof. Laura and Heliodor Hybris had four faults.
Louise Whitaker was 1.72 sec off winning the Glock’s 2* grand prix with Di Lampard’s home-bred Balou Du Rouet daughter Ruby VIII. She must be thrilled with the nine-year-old’s performance, she’s flourishing and gaining confidence and experience every time out. Markus Beerbaum took the win on Tequila De Lile. Alexander Thornton took tenth with Charielle.
