Joe Whitaker takes another win at Allington

Joe Whitaker again brought Lavarno to the fore at Allington on day two. The pair had topped the medium tour 1.35m on day one, and claimed the big tou 1.40m on day two by 0.28 sec.

“She’s a full sister to [top horse] Lola and like her she’s careful and competitive,” said Joe on the nne-year-old home-bred Locarno daughter.

Emma Stoker’s late round in the 40-horse competition took second with Bob Young’s Townhead Tallulah V with third going to Louise Whitaker and Ruby VIII, British chef d’equipe Di Lampard’s Balou Du Rouet daughter.

Michael Whitaker picked up fourth on JB’s Hot Property with Louise Saywell on Mr Darcy in fifth and Laura Mantel sixth on Liz Howe’s Glory B V.

Holly Gillott was the sole rider to break the 30 sec barrier to take the medium tour 1.35m two-phase on Jane Heerbeck’s nine-year-old Carolus K DHI, a former eventer with Indoctro/Gran Corrado bloodlines initially produced by JP Sheffield.

Long-time leader Joe Whitaker took second on Shearwater Upanda in the 40-strong class, with Alex Hempleman on Billy Dineiro third. Michael Whitaker and Abnormaal took fourth ahead of fifth-placed Max Routledge with Old Lodge’s Haifa OL with Ellen Whitaker in sixth on Arena UK Winston.

David Murdoch took the small tour 1.30m with Entesar with two and a half sec in hand from Yazmin Davies on Zambowa. Paul Barker was in third on Sandors Legacy, finishing just ahead of Julie Andrews and Senator CC Catch. Fifth went to Aimee Jones and Biance BC and Danielle Farnsworth took sixth on Cornascrebe Ferro.

Kathryn Ellison topped the gold tour on Hanleen Sultis by just 0.06 sec from Tuesday’s winner Ella Popely on Little Luidam. Katheyn also claimed fifth on Cherokee Bay. Hannah Hughes was third on Tekila Sun Belin with Stacey Cook and Ninola in fourth.

Michael Fursedonn outpaced all to take the silver tour with Foxtrot Van Den Aard, finishing a second ahead of Chelsea Skelton and Cheleko GB Z. Ruby Pointer and Dutsy Van Het Hek took third with Julie Slade and Billy Gogo in fourth and Charles Richards on Pebbly Role Model fifth.
