Laura Robinson claims the Grand Prix in Madrid

Laura Robinson enjoyed a fabulous Madrid 2* show, culminating in victory in the 1.45m Grand Prix on Jonti.

Only five of the 39 starters reached the jump-off with Laura posting the win with half a sec to spare on the Lando 12-year-old gelding to secure the Suzuki trophy and a handsome 6,250 euro. Mexico’s Federico Fernandez Senderos took second on Bolt with Spain’s Jose Bono Rodriguez and Sligo Hard Times in third.

Laura’s second ride Lombelle incurred just four faults in round one for 12th place.

The Landos mare Lombelle finished fifth in the first day’s 1.40m speed, 1.36 sec behind the winner, and the Lando sired 12-year-old Jonti posted the fastest four faults. And Lombelle finished third in the second day’s 1.40m, 3.50 sec behind the pace. Ireland’s Marion Hughes won with Laith.

“Jonti is a machine and I am so impressed with my little eight-year-old Lombelle,” said a delighted Laura.
