Jemma Kirk takes a Grand Prix fourth in very wet conditions in Reims
A rainstorm descended on Reims, France, just at the start of the 2* Grand Prix, but Jemma Kirk decided to go ahead with Quelisto.
“The Heavens opened and the grass deteriorated in minutes but we thought we’d give it a go and we made just one mistake down the final line,” said Jemma on the first round.
There were only two clears so the pair made it to the eight-strong jump-off, posted a clear and finished fourth. Egypt’s Abdel Said gained victory on Hope Van Scherpen Donder.
Quelisto was an absolute star, he gave me his all today in terrible conditions, I can’t thank him enough,” said Jemma.
British-based Australian Rowan Willis took fifth on the Chacco Blue/Pilot 10-year-old mare Blue Movie on a total of eight with Guy Williams and Golddigger in eighth.
Jemma also took fifth in the 1.30m on the Carolus II sired Carbani less than two sec off the pace.
And Alice Rae finished third in the 1.20m with Guy Williams’ Henry W.
