Laura Renwick posts a magnificent double in Madrid

Laura Renwick posted a fantastic double at the Longines Global Champions tour of Madrid, heading the top two 5* competitions.

First of all, Laura topped the opening 1.45m Volvo trophy on the fabulous Obos Quality eight-year-old MHS Washington by half sec from Laura Kraut and the Corland/Animo 11-year-old Andretti S. John Whitaker brought Argento into fifth in the hotly contended class. One time fault in the second phase dropped Scott Brash and Hello Guv’Nor to 19th.

And she headed the evening’s Massimo Dutti 1.50m with a great round on the Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve/Orlando 10-year-old Bintang II. Belgium’s Olivier Philippaerts failed to catch the pair, taking second on H&M Challenge V Begijnakker 0.15 sec in arrears.

John Whitaker and Old Lodge’s Cassini II 12-year-old Lord of Arabia finished ninth. Michael Whitaker (Deadalus Van T&I) and Ben Maher (Untouched) both incurred four faults in phase two to finish down the line.

Alexandra Thornton took seventh in the 1.40m on Quiletta Du Domaine with Jane Davies 14 th on Eclips Van Erpekom. And Jane on the Baloussini/Calypso six-year-old Cipriani finished fourth in the 1.15m with Alicia Store in 12th on Capellini II, a Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve nine-year-old. Tess Carmichael and the consistent Unique III took fifth in the 1.25m.
