At Devon County, Robert Bevis headed the International Stairway with Chablis E T, a Lord Z/Kingston eight-year-old ridden since October.
Helen Tredwell brought her home-bred Vangelis S daughter Larksong into second and she currently tops the league table at this early stage. Royal Berkshire’s Stairway leg – back in September, is now counted as the first leg for the 2016 series. Picking up nine points for second place here and added to the seven from Royal Berkshire, gives Helen a total of 16.
Robert is in a strong position at this early stage with Royal Berkshire winner Courtney on 12 points as well as his winner here, Chablis. Robert’s third ride Pebbles is on nine points, but she has since been sold.
Helen also took seventh at Devon on Ann and Colin Garrett’s Sebastian VII. Sammie-Jo Coffin and Willem De Lux took third with Alfie Bradstock in fourth on KBIS Caicos. Nigel Coupe was fifth on Golvers Hill and eighth with Jubilee and Hariet Nuttall eased A Touch Imperious into sixth.
Nigel and Jubilee headed Thursday’s 1.45m with Ben Walker on Di and Pennie Cornish's Da Vinci in second. Sian Edwards took the Coastal Recycling accumulator with Adriarna with Alice Watson in second on Izar LB. Justin Tuff was third on Jancey Wembridge’s Man From Delmonte.
And Mark Edwards with the Unbelievable Darco 10-year-old Unbelievable Eddie topped the 1.30m.
