In Valkenswaard, Anna Edwards posted a win in the 1* 1.35m with Dutch-bred 10-year-old Chesterfield Z, winning by 0.19 sec from Belgium’s Ines van den Bosch on Watch Me. John Daker took ninth on the British-bred Heartbreaker seven-year-old Sweet Candy, a mare bred by Charlie Edwards.
Anna was second in the 2* 1.35m on Bon Jovi, a Vincenzo/Nimmerdor 10-year-old stallion previously ridden by Italy’s Piergiorgio Bucci. Jessica Mendoza was in seventh on Wan Architect in the 12-horse decider. Anna Wilks and Collonella Z notched up just one time fault in round one to finish 14th.
Four faults in the jump-off dropped Anna and Bina Ford’s Douglas/Oklund eight-year-old Darling HDH down to 11th in the 2* 1.40m. Jay Buxton and the Montender nine-year-old Strides Hilansterne took 14th in the 15-strong jump-off.
Tim Wilks on the Belgian-bred six-year-old Kay claimed second in the six-year-old one and a half sec off the pace, with Ben Maher taking fifth on the Toulon/Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve six-year-old F One USA. Anna Wilks and the Toulon/Calato gelding L Primero di Gala took fourth in the five-year-old. Ireland’s Bertram Allen topped the seven-year-old on Etoile De Loma, a grey with Clinton/Heart breaker bloodlines, with David McPherson in seventh on Sirocco and Trevor Breen in ninth on the Dutch-bred Enterprise.
A winner yesterday, Caroline Breen took fourth in the 1.15m on the Irish-bred 11-year-old Kilmastulla Douglas and her husband Trevor claimed third in the 2* 1.45m speed on the 12-year-old Cruising stallion Oldtown KC. John Daker and the Heartbreaker/Zapateado nine-year-old Credit Card took 12th. Trevor also took 11th in the 1.25m on Wittinger VDL eight-year-old Danique with fellow Irishman Ivan Dalton and Au Top de la Byche in seventh.
