Joe Whitaker is second in Bethune's world ranking class and Nicole Pavitt posts a win
On Saturday in Bethune, France, Joe Whitaker and the Locarno daughter Lola finished second in Bethune’s 3* world ranking 1.45m just 0.44 sec behind the winner, France’s Olivier Guillon and Sreise Du Bidou. Louise Pavitt slotted Unex Chamberlain Z into third in the 18-strong jump-off. Jess Drea on Mullaghdrin Touch The Stars took 13th and Douglas Duffin was 16th on Quidam BZ.
No less than nine riders incurred time faults only, with Ireland’s Anthony Condon on Aristio Z and Jame Wingrove with Cardigan Z both collecting one time fault each to take 19th and 21st.
Sisters Nicole and Louise Pavitt featured in the 1.35m, Nicole winning by almost half a sec on the Diamant De Semilly nine-year-old Hussah TM.
Louise brought the Nonstop 11-year-old Fiona V/H Lemmenshof into fourth with second ride Berlin, a Couterro U/Wolfgang nine-year-old, in fifth. Matt Sampson took ninth on the Burggraaf 11-year-old Avalon Alalan. Louise’s partner David Simpson took sixth on Starfighter for Ireland fellow British-based Irishman Anthony Condon was 10th on Balzac, an Oklund 10-year-old owned by Kat Taylor, and 20th with Chinook II.
Jemma Kirk on Carbani took 16th, Justin Tuff was 19th on Cumano Van Pottelberg and Steven Franks with Carlow Cruiser took 21st.
Louise and the ARS Vivendi seven-year-old Hello Vivendi took fourth in the 1* young horse 1.30m. And Claire Salem took ninth in the 1.30m on the eight-year-old Meteoor.
