Matt Sampson posts a win with new ride Cristobal
In Le Touquet, France, Matt Sampson and new ride Cristobal 21, a Cristo 11-year-old, cemented their partnership with a win in the 3* 1.40m, taking victory by 0.71 sec. Ben Maher and the Calvaro Z 10-year-old Sarena claimed eighth and Nicole Pavitt and Doucardi finished 12th.
British-based Irishmen also featured, David Simpson and the 10-year-old Starfighter taking fifth with Shane Breen and Silbermond, a Stakkato Gold eight-year-old, in seventh.
In the 3* 1.40m Derby Ville Du Touquet, in typical Derby style, only two clears were realised. Hickstead Derby specialist Trevor Breen took second, guiding the eight-year-old Dulf around the long track to finish five sec behind the winner, Belgium’s Nadege Janssen and Popstar Lozonais. Steven Franks and the Irish-bred Cruising 18-year-old Carlow Cruiser had just four faults to take fourth.
Lulu Warren took fifth in the 1* 1.25m on the 11-year-old Alex VD Molen with Giorgia Distefano in 15th on Evensong III. Louise Pavitt eased the Irish-bred Hello Vivendi into 13th in the seven-year-old.
In Mantes La Jolie, France, Alex Hempleman took sixth in the six-year-old the Cevin Z/Billy Congo Billy Republic. And Julie Slade claimed sixth in the Amateur 1.20m on the Verdi nine-year-old Nicholas 55.
Alex and the nine-year-old Billy Belle took 19th in the 1.40m speed with a steady clear.
