Douglas Duffin posts the only British clear as Britain takes third in Drammen's Nations Cup

Britain took third in the 3* Drammen Nations Cup on a 25 fault total under chef d’equipe Tony Newbery. Clears were extremely scarce, with only one double clear evident. Douglas Duffin was the only Brit to produce a clear with Quidam BZ, improving on his round one four faults - just a foot in the water - with a clear in the second round. Pathfinder Kerry Brennan and Wellington M score four and eight, James Billington aboard VDL Cartello finished on eight and four, the same score as anchor Joe Whitaker’s Lola V.

Italy won on 16 with Norway second on 24, finishing in a faster total time than Britain.

Ireland finished fifth on a 40 total. Captain Geoff Curran and Mullaghbane scored eight and eight, Paul Kennedy on Cartown Danger Mouse finished on eight and clear, British-based Richard Howley came home on eight and four with Chinook, and and anchor Shane Carey with Contador had 12 and four.

Douglas claimed third in the silver tour 1* 1.30m with the 11-year-old Lui Viton. Four faults apiece dropped Kerry’s Dynamic and Joe Whitaker on Lavarno in the 3* gold small tour speed.

Liane Smith took eighth in the 1* young horse on the Verdi/Kalusha six-year-old Ferdi M.

In Eindhoven, Netherlands, Jessica Mendoza took third in the 1* youngster tour with the Toulon seven-year-old Jonker Van Sombeke, but four faults with Spirit T dropped them down the line in the 3* 1.50m.
