Jane Annett wins in Barbizon
In Barbizon, France, on Saturday, Jane Annett and the Harlequin Du Carel mare Pallas Masterclass – winners of the Welsh Masters ladies two weeks ago – continued on their winning form in Barbizon, France, topping the group one 1* 1.30m.
Philip Spivey was fourth in the group two 1.30m on Kasparov, a Romanov seven-year-old. Phillip and another Romanov offspring, Smirnov took tenth in the Toyota 1.40m speed.
British-based Frenchman Dan Delsart, back in his homeland, also featured in the group two 1.30m, taking second and third on Mayspring and Flemins Bouncer.
And despite the wet, cold day, Philip and the Montender/Contendro gelding Monsoon Monday splashed their way round to take second in the seven-year-old grand prix.
On Sunday, Philip eased the Contender mare Virginia 188, owned jointly with Tracey Forrest, into third in the 1* 1.35m Grand Prix, 1.82 sec off the winning time. James Emblen and Filou Van Overis took 11th in the 15-strong jump-off, won by France’s Laura Klein on Aida Officier Pre Des Hai.
An unlucky rail on the floor put Philip and Smirnov out of contention in the 2* Grand Prix but they picked up a minor place.
Sian Cadwallader Hinkins and Busy Lissie took fifth in the Amateur 1.15m.
