Brits feature strongly in the Lanaken

Geoff Luckett was just 0.18 off winning the 1.40m, taking second and fifth on Sharon Baldwin’s Com Air 10-year-old stallion Cash Point and the Carinjo/Burggraaf 11-year-old Constant II.

James Fisher headed the 1.35m on Dino, a Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve/Guidam eight-year-old, with 0.66 sec to spare.

Tim Wilks and the 11-year-old Stakkato daughter Shakira took second in the 3* 1.30m with James Fisher on Devonte and Ellie Meager with Ilka II taking sixth and seventh. But it was the names in the 1.30m that drew the eye – Germany’s Jorne Sprehe won with Kick Like Bum (!!) and David Cameron – no, the Prime Minister hasn’t taken time out from governing the country, his namesake is from Australia – was eighth on Sweetlana 2.

In the top-billed 1.50m speed, won by Denmark’s Andreas Schou on Royal Butterfly, Joe Clee was best Brit in eighth on the Heartbreaker/Carthago 10-year-old stallion Gamko S.

Tess Carmichael eased Atlantis PP Z into seventh in the 3* 1.25m and Abbe Elliott brought the Lupicor/Casco nine-year-old Casti Aneira into fifth in the 1* 1.25m with James Fisher in ninth on Ernestine F.

Greg Taylor took the top two places in the 1.15m, winning on the Nintender/Lupicor eight-year-old Daimler II and taking second with the Warrant/Zeus seven-year-old mare Esunja.

Carron Nicol netted second in the young horse 1.20m on the Singapore/Cassini I six-year-old stallion Finnegan D with Helen Tredwell on the British-bred Westpoint Quickfire/Larino Calcourt Quicktime in third.

Ellie Meager was fourth in the under 25 1.30m on the Calato/Literat 11-year-old stallion Cassius III.
