Jodie Hall-McAteer dominates in Belgium with six wins

April 5, 2016

Brits dominated in Azelhof, Lier, Belgium, topping every class on day one, with many wins coming home to Britain.

Jodie Hall McAteer monopolised the pony classes, winning three of four competitions, including taking the top two in the grand prix.

The magnificent Tixylix, now 18-years-old but still as feisty and eager, topped the grand prix for Jodie, and she rode a similar track on Lea Du Genier to come within 0.02 sec of her winning time for second.

Brits took three of the top four grand prix places, Jack Whitaker and Zodianne Van de Doevenbree taking fourth in the 23-pony jump-off behind third-placed Harry Allen for Ireland on Cassandra Van Het Roelhof.

Hallie Lunn slotted Shannonbay Extra into seventh with Nicole Lockhead Anderson ninth on Just Dolce, both jumping double clears.

The Little Squire claimed two 1.10m classes – the opener and a speed – for Jodie, with Robert Murphy and Opto Mist grabbing fourth both times.  Maia Andrews on Beach Comber and Amy Barrett with Cobra Kaa were eighth and 10th respectively in the opening 1.10m.

And Jodie and Lea Du Genier won two 1.20m competitions, heading the speed and a jump-off class.  Jack Whitaker and Carramore Dot Com took fourth in the speed with Allana Clutterbuck on Atomic Du Bary in seventh.  In the 1.20m jump-off, Robert Murphy eased Rainbows Mocha into fifth with Nicole in seventh on Just Dolce.

Jack eased Zodianne into second in a 1.20m speed with Allana in fourth on Sultan Du Bary.

Jodie also featured in the junior under 18 classes, winning the opening 1.25m on Vichy.

Robert Murphy took a close second in the junior grand prix on Murano/Amulet 13-year-old Del Fuego in a five-horse jump-off.  Four faults in round one prevented several Brits from contending the jump-off, but their quick rounds gave them favourable places in the line-up - Maja Burnell took sixth on Carnaval Komombo, Jodie Hall McAteer and Colette took eighth with Jared Lunn on Alure III ninth.

Jared took fourth in a junior 1.25m and won another with the nine-year-old Concorde daughter Brookwood Supersonic.  Jodie and Vichy finished fourth here with Emma Shingles on Torino fifth and Jack Whitaker on Stakkato De Fee sixth.

Jodie’s sister Ellie Hall McAteer was also in winning mode, heading the opening children-on-horses 1.10 and taking the following day’s speed class on the 13-year-old mare Blush.  And she almost topped the grand prix too.  Ellie and Dazzle provided the fastest time, beating the winner by one and a half sec, but a rail on the floor put them fifth.  Sandy McLean was ninth here on Warhol Wulfselection Z, and the pair also picked up a second and a fifth during the four day meeting.

Amy Inglis took a good second place in the under 25 1.45m grand prix on the 10-year-old mare Samayava Ar Park in a three way jump-off.  Maja Burnell, winner of the opening 1.30m, finished sixth on Crona CR.  And Amy riding Amadeouse De Hurtebise was third in the 1.30.
