Jessica Howard scoops the double at the Blue Chip Championships

Fresh from her Pony of the Year Show success with the novice title on Claire Darwin’s Rocky Robin, Jessica Howard scored an amazing double at the Blue Chip Championships, winning the Animo pony novice and Animo pony discovery titles.

And it was no fluke. They won the first championship by five sec and the discovery by almost two sec.

“He’s a strong character and needs plenty of work to stimulate him, but we have a great trust between us, and he will turn on a sixpence,” said Jessica, who only started jumping the Irish-bred pony in July last year.

Lauren Roach took second in the Animo discovery on a catch ride, stepping up to ride Iceford Little Miss for Pebbles Pullen, who broke her collar bone in a fall in the novice jump-off earlier in the day.

“I wasn’t riding at this show, I’ve had to borrow riding clothes and boots,” she said.

Alexandria Hands and Sliabh Lan John Joe was third.

Ben Perry and Mystery Velvet took second in the Animo novice with Sarah Gormley and Osocool third.
