Jess Mendoza takes third in the day's big class at Hermes 5*

Jessica Mendoza netted third in the 1.50m speed at Hermes, 5* Paris, on the Tornado/Carnaval Drum mare Spirit T, two sec off the pace behind winner, Ireland’s Bertram Allen and the Heartbreaker stallion Romanov.

Scott Brash on Hello Forever and Michael Whitaker with JB’s Hot Stuff both jumped steady clears to finish down the line.

Laura Renwick eased the eight-year-old MHS Washington, an Obos Quality/Cavalier Royale mare, into third in the opening 1.45m and John Whitaker gave the Cassini/Cascavelle eight-year-old stallion Cassini’s Chaplin a great ride to take fifth.

Four faults in the second phase of the Under 25 1.40m dropped Millie Allen and the feisty little stallion Balou Star down the line from third to 12th.
