Annabel Shields dominates the Northcote Stud Winter Masters

Annabel Shields dominated the Northcote Stud Winter Masters, winning three championships and several supporting classes at this three day meeting with generous prize-money.

My Casall (pictured), a German-bred seven-year-old with Cassini II/Casall bloodlines, lifted the Foxhunter Masters title for Annabel from Emily Whiteside’s Warriors Glory.

After firing a warning shot with an earlier 1.30m win, Annabel headed the 1.30m Masters on Wet Wet Wet, a Dutch-bred Mr Blue 13-year-old she acquired in October from Karl Fuller, and a winner in Opglabbeek CSI2* last month. Nigel Coupe and Jubilee III had to settle for second, with Geoff Billington’s ELO in third.

Annabel’s third championship win came in the Discovery Masters with a flying round on Gerona, a Bacardi VDL five-year-old mare she has ridden since August.

Breaking Annabel’s stranglehold, Andrew Mizon secured a home victory in the Newcomers Masters with the home-bred, Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve/Burggraaf gelding Chilli Pepper IV.

And Jessica Crosby claimed the Novice Masters on the seven-year-old TGF Tinkerbell.
