John Whitaker secures victory in Hong Kong

John Whitaker and Argento hit form at the Longines Hong Kong Masters, winning day two's opening class, the Airbus trophy. John felt the tight-turning course suited Argento, the 14-year-old Arko stallion son bred by Keeley Durham. "We won it everywhere, but really gallopng to the last fence was the winning move," said John, who will start Argento in the feature Longines grand prix tomorrow (Sunday). Bertram Allen (Hector van d'Abdijhoeve) took third in the Airbus trophy. Jessica Mendoza (Spirit T) took tenth on four faults in the jump-off. Joe Clee (Fento Chin S) had five faults in round one.
