Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Al Ain after round one


In the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Britain took ninth place after round one on a total of 22 faults. Joe Clayton and Conman JX (pictured), a nine-year-old produced by Geoff and Sarah Billington before Joe took over the reins four months ago, was best Brit with one time fault. Joe Davison (Calimero Van't Roth) returned on 13 faults, Jessie Drea (Mullaghdrin Touch The Stars) was the drop score on 17, and Emma O'Dwyer (HHS Figero) came home on eight. Ireland just scraped into eighth spot to make the cut to round two on 20 faults. Anthony Condon on the Hales family's scopey home-bred Arko son Aristio were the only pair to come home clear. Brian Cournane (Javas Celtic Mist) had eight faults, Marion Hughes (Kan Ya Makan) was drop score on 13, and Dermott Lennon and Fleur IV - who was produced in Britain by Jude Burgess - had 12. France is currently leading on a zero score with Qatar in second on eight faults and Switzerland third on 9.
