Meet Louise Saywell

Louise enjoyed an enviable pony career, topped by winning at HOYS and taking double gold at the Pony European championships with the fantastic and unforgettable CJ’s Kemosabi. She went on to jump on young rider European teams and senior super league Nations Cup squads. She is now building up her string from her Nottinghamshire home.

Age started riding: Both my parents (Mick, a former international show jumper himself and Vicky) rode and there were always horses in the yard, I was just plonked on before I can even remember.

First horse/pony: Lottie the Shetland when I was three. She was a saint. We won lead-rein showing and mountain and moorland.

Best win: The Hermes Paris 5* under-25 grand prix with Winner. An amazing show to be part of and Winner won two world ranking classes, the team cup and the grand prix. There were great celebrations that night.

Best horse: Winner. She was difficult but always had that superstar status.

Horse you’d most like to ride: Fibonacci of Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum. This horse looks powerful and level-headed and ticks all the boxes.

Equestrian hero: Marcus Ehning. His position and the way he rides. He looks like he’s doing nothing, but he’s doing everything.

Alternative career: I wouldn’t have any idea. I was never good at school. I think it's a good job I can ride.

Show Jumping ambition: the Olympics, to go to the very top.

Favourite song: Hello by Adele. It’s very catchy.

Ideal dinner party guests: Bobby Davro – I’ve not heard him before but he was hilarious at Bolesworth; my partner Graham [Lovegrove] and my best friend [fellow showjumper] Scarlett Ward – she's always good for a laugh. And that’s it, an intimate, dinner party.
